Ecobricks are an easy and practical way to deal with the excess non-recyclable plastic that often envelops foods and snacks served to children and youth in schools, afterschool programming, clubs, and sporting events. This workshop is designed to include the theory behind Ecobricks and how to make them, along with support in initiating and carrying out projects where children and youth take on leadership roles. Workshop highlights (4 sessions over a 2 month period):
- Review of the basic 3 R’s – Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle and how this fits into the daily life of children, youth and their families
- Defining the global plastic pollution problem and understanding its impact on children and youth around the world to better develop empathy which propels action on the part of the students
