Environment

In our online food forest catalogue, you can find all the fruits and vegetables that grow here at the Mangrove Society and discover their uses, both culinary and medicinal.

While onsite at the Mangrove, you can take a walk through the food forest to go on an interactive QR code path which leads you to better understand each plant.

The labeling of our food forest and creation of the catalogue was a joint project between a local school and a group of students from the United States in one of our intercultural exchange service learning trips, with support by our volunteer program.

The base material for our signs are drift boards found during beach cleanups – we love to upcycle here at Mangrove!

We use green techniques to create sustainable housing fit for our area and climate. Simple, lightweight,  artistic, and functional are what we strive for to be able to enjoy this beautiful space in tandem with nature.

At the Mangrove Society we offer workshops around green construction, plastic reuse, upcycling, and so much more.

Check out our latest and upcoming workshops and come visit us for participation.

Here at the Mangrove Society we strive to make sure that every step we take is a green one. We want to share our knowledge with our exciting workshops and help you learn more about a self-sustainable life. We also want to deliver valuable information about our plants and their specific use in our catalogue.

With our environmental initiatives we support the UN Sustainable Development goals 4 (Quality Education), 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities), and 12 (Responsible Production and Consumption).
