Arriving from San Jose

By car:

From San Jose, drive to Puntarenas to catch the Ferry to Paquera. It is about a 2-hour drive. It is best to purchase tickets ahead of time at this website: www.quickpaycr.com. You can check the ferry schedule in our guidebook under the transportation section, but it is also found on the above website. Your car will go on the ferry with you. When you arrive in Paquera, drive to Cobano which is about a 45-minute drive. We are just a few kilometres outside of Cobano. Use Google Maps or Waze to help you. You can look up Mangrove Society Nonprofit or use this link

By bus:

There are two direct buses a day from San Jose to Cobano. Check out the following links for schedules and purchasing tickets online:
https://terminal7-10.com/es/rutas/cobano/
https://www.laterminalcostarica.com

Once in Cobano, you can take a short taxi ride that costs 3,000 to 5,000 colones.

Or you can take a different bus with Transportes Malpais which you cannot purchase ahead of time (bus times in the guidebook) which stops at the end of our road and then walk 1 km.
